About Our Work

For over a year we have been working to explore possible ways to acquire the Hutchinson Center for the benefit of the entire region.

Our Mission

We exist to preserve the Hutchinson Center as a public, educational community resource for the mid-coast region.

What We’ve Achieved

  • Following the protocols dictated by the University, we have pursued the acquisition of the Hutch by submitting a proposal to them.

  • We have also polled the community to discover how much support there is for retaining the Hutch as a regional resource. View some of the comments made here.

  • We have contacted several potential benefactors to locate one who will help fund an acquisition. So far we have been unsuccessful.

  • We have sought partner organizations to join us in this effort. This resulted in a partnership with Waterfall Arts, who have been willing to invest money and a commitment make use of the Hutch in the future.

  • We successfully appealed the original decision by the University to sell the Hutch to the Calvary Chapel Belfast church.
